No but past BP subs have been so bad not much intrest in trying it out. Plus we get all the real Black Powder we want aound here. While smokless is still hard to buy.

I suspect acceptance of any new replacement black powders will depend on if you can buy the real thing.

If your wanting it to compete, in matches, it's best to see if you can use it for that. Many only allow "real" BP and some include Pyrodex but, not much else.

Saw it on the shelf and didn't know anything about it.  Curiosity mainly.   Did some internet searching, seems like the folks who make it,  think it's great.   Didn't know how it shoots in the real world.

There was some on the shelf here a few months ago, from what the label said, it sounded a lot like Hodgdon Blackhorn 209 and from what I found out about 209, it was described as made like the old Bulk Smokeless shotgun powder.

The 209 is about $32 for 12 oz but, the Alliant was $22 for 1lb. I would have liked to try it as a duplex powder for real BP to see how it worked but, it's all gone now, somebody must have finally noticed it Sad

Based on the research by the guys on the American Long Rifle site forums a year or two ago, all of the BP substitutes are much more corrosive than BP fouling unless the bore is cleaned right away.    Testing was done by burning it on a polished samples of barrel grade steel and observing corrosion development under the fouling residue.   Some exhibited pitting in as little as a few hours.
I decided years ago NOT to use any of the substitutes in any of my firearms.

Geezze!  What's wrong with using black powder?  The only immitation I ever used was some cartridge Pyrodex.  It really did corrode things and after a few pounds I quit using it.  Couldn't even give it away so one day I got some good safety fuse, poured the 9 pounds I had left into a pile, and made a mushroom shaped cloud.   If you want to shoot a black powder firearm, why ruin it with phony powder?
