bullet size vs alloy

How much will cast bullet diameters be effected by alloys?  Will a softer alloy or straight lead cast a smaller or larger bullet then say a 1 to 20 tin/lead alloy?
Thanks.

In my experience the harder the alloy, the mold will throw a larger bullet. Lyman #2 alloy will be larger than 30/1.  Straight linotype will be bigger yet. We are talking small differences.

If we are talking lead / tin alloys the differences are minimal Between lets say 20:1 and 40:1 we are talking .0001s of an inch. If you tell your mold maker to scale your mold for .25:1 the difference will be quite small when going up and down looking for an optimal temper.
Lead / Tin / Antimony shrink much less than Lead / Tin, that is the up side. The down side is that L/T/A/ alloys almost always leave voids as they cool and solidify.  Linotype was designed to give minimum shrinkage in the linotype machine as too much shrinkage would give a light strike in the press.

Harder the alloy the lighter the bullet if that makes any difference to you. With my 40cal bullets can make the difference of a couple of grains going from 30-1 to 20-1.

As you add tin and antimony, the cast bullet will be larger in diameter and lighter in weight.
As temperature varies, you will also get variation.
Some may disagree, but if you don't flux regularly, you will get variation.

This may be what your looking for. In my experiance, WW and 22/1 are within .0002 of each other with 22/1 casting the larger size.
