Hi Ken,

My 33-47 Douglas CPA is a 14 twist. One bullet I use is a 231 gr. David Mos. It shoots great. I have used a Darr bullet that weighs 262 gr. and it shoots great also, but does tip a little sometimes.

First picture is with the Mos bullet.

Second picture is with the Darr bullet.

Mine is a 15 twist, unknown barrel, chambered in a necked down 357 Max case (33 ELCO). I shoot bullets as long as 1.247 a 236 gr Brooks that I've only shot one time, it did a 245 last month and a 10 shot group of 2.04".

The bullet that I've shot sucessfully for a year and a half is a unmarrked, it's 1.19 long, cylinderical and weighs 240 gr. I shot back to back 249's at Spokane with it this year.

I wouldn't hesitate trying a 14 twist, if I where to build another one. Or maybe a 14.5 Smiley

My best match targets follow.

My .33 is a 16 twist. Have not felt the need for a faster twist. Not really into BR shooting or equipment races.  I do have fun using original style rifles and twists.

I would reccomend a 1:14" twist but would not walk away from a 1:14 1/2" twist.
Does any of our Pope Experts know what the final twist on a Pope 33 is?

Hi Ken,
My thoughts on twist coinside with those of Jerry and Frank.I also have a CPA 33-47 with a Douglas barrel
and I've used molds made by C.Grims(225grs) and J.Borton(225grs).Both of these bullets do very well
shooting at 100yds,hav'nt tried at 200yds as of yet for I am still working on powder loads.I also have a P.J.Jones(230gr) mold of which I have not used yet.
Based on what I've done so far,I feel that the 1:14
twist is great and would try 1:14.5 if BRC were to offer it---Fritz
