Anyone know where Vortex 'scopes are made?

Tried to a ASSRA site search, but nothing came up.

Vortex scopes are pretty good scopes but, being a more "modern" scope, I don't believe they've been talked about on the forum.

I bought a new Vortex Viper spotting scope last year and was supprized that it said made in China. Many of the other Chinese scopes are not very good quality, such as Tasco.

I guess that I should add that I'm very happy with my Vortex Viper spotting scope. It's a very high quality scope and also add that the Japanese fixed power, Tasco's are excellent scopes also, I have several. But, I bought a Chinese Tasco a few years ago and would never buy another.

I have seen 24 to 36x Leopold and Weaver scopes going to around $500 on ebay.  Might be a better lens for the same $$?

Have you ever compared one to a Kowa in low light conditions?

No questions asked warranty is a China trademark. No service available company orders 100 from China they ship 110 to cover the warranty.  Except Leupold Days of shops with American workers doing repairs are gone. Old farts like us attracted to complications like Unertl's are thinning out.
