303 Br Non gascheck mould

Does anyone know of a commonly available mould for the 303 Brit that does not have a gascheck? I want to load up some BP rds and there is absolutely no need for the gascheck and for my purpose it's likely detrimental

I've looked but my wife says I have man vision Smiley

I've picked up the Lee and the Lyman but both are gascheck bullets. I plan on playing with these for the time being. If one of them look promising I'll throw it in the 4 jaw and bore out the gascheck.

A Metford bullet would be cool.

I suggest you try the GC bullets as cast, with BP LUbe in the grooves and on the gas check shank and with a 0.060" or thicker LDPE or HDPE
plastic wad over the BP/under the bullet

That I will do. I'm hoping to see some of a clear direction before I commit to a custom.

I shot this bullet without gas checks, I left the lube on the GC portion and wiped the base clean. It shot Verywell @ 1000 yds
It's a 645 NEI 45 cal mold

I have been thinking about 303 too.  A bit concerned about the bottle neck.  Please post any encouraging results or any warnings not to bother  Cry  Thanks, Bob

Bob,
The 303 was originally loaded with BP so, I don't think there would be a problem with it.

Well this all sounds encouraging. I'll give them a go with various configurations and see what the results are.

I will indeed post up my results. From what I understand the primary issue everyone has is getting enough powder in the case.
I could easily more or less duplicate the original BP load that is a compressed pellet with a flash channel running all the way up the center. But along with increased velocity I'm thinking this could easily lead to high deviations in velocity. I could be wrong on this.
I'm going to proceed as such
Drop tube to bullet seat
Drop tube and add compression using a case extender so I can overcharge the case to the original 71.5 grs of 2F loading (this gave 18xx fps as I understand)
Then if necessary I'll make up a compression plug with a pin to replicate that flash channel. I already have an explosion plate made up for in front of my press so I could post prime a filled case safely.... previous experiment in silliness.

I would consider paper patching a .30 cal. GC bullet without the GC.
