For giggles, I ran some numbers though the Powley computer. It indicates you should be able to match the original .25-35 hunting loads -- if you throat it long and if the gun can take 44,000 CUP. With care, I'm sure you can take medium deer with such, but it's certainly on the light side.

If you want a single shot to hunt with I have a .25 Krag in a beautiful single shot that I can't identify. I will include a pic.
I understand the .25 Krag is a great cartridge but is a reloading proposition and I don't reload. The rifle is one of the best examples of the gunsmiths art that I have seen.
