Thanks! I usually try to find old cases and gut them. Then build up the interiors myself. But for the Marlin nothing was sized correctly to be short and wide enough; so I built the whole case.
I bought oak in 4"x 3/4" boards, and glued them side to side to make the width. Then built up a box, and ran the box through my table saw to cut the top off. Got an old briefcase from the Goodwill for $2, and robbed all the hinges, handle, and corner hardware off it.

Very nice. Lots of chips on the floor after thinning those boards. How did you do the decal/emblem on the lid lining? Really puts the dressing on the case.

Anyone wanting original trade labels for the interior of the lid of their gun case(s) a good selection is available here:-

(You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

There are five pages of labels. As originals they are not cheap, prices varying from £21.00 to £98.00 Stirling. Be aware that some makers have as many as three or more labels with changes in pattern or address, so be careful in your selection as some makers appear on more than one page. Click on the 'View' button to see an enlargement of any individual label, and also details for ordering and postage.

Henry Crank is the largest firearms and accessories supplier in the U/K. Their catalogue is like a telephone book, and almost as heavy.  Wink

I have a number of original Marlin catalogs, so I color copied the logo from inside the front cover, and glued it to the lid inside. Marlin never offered any fitted cases, so it was easy to make a case and not worry about trying to match anything existing. Surprising how many Marlin collectors have gotten excited about seeing this "factory" fitted case when I've displayed it. Wink Breaks their heart when I tell them Marlin didn't make it.
