I have just finished checkering the forearm on a martini I am building. It has taken quite a while with having the action engraved and installing the barrel. I tore up the first forearm because it was too thin and had to start all over. Now all I have left to do is the checkering on the buttstock and maybe I will get to shoot it.

Very nice looking Martini! Who did the Frogmoor engraving on the receiver? I like it.

Ken Hurst did the engraving. He is an excellent engraver and you just have to wait a while for him to get too it.

It still amazes me such work can come from a mans hands and imagination.
I have done machine work for many years with a lot of hand fitting of parts but could never hope to be that good at my craft. Truly amazing work....

beautiful gun.i have been to ken's house and he is a very nice and talented man.i have been trying for several years to get someone to make original peabody sights because so many of the originals are missing them.carmen axtell laughed at me and said good luck.i finally got a few of the fronts made and the machinist said he would never do any more again.they are a major pain in the behind(not his exact words).we used 4 of the originals fronts all were a little different.he has agreed to do some rear tang sights.i will be at the tulsa show with some if you are interested.if not going to show let me know.i have already sold over half of what i had made without any advertisement.

Nice job on the checkering.  A difficult pattern to pull off, being a fill in/point pattern.

Beautiful rifle, very nice checkering of a complicated pattern. Admire your skills. Checkering is just something I cannot do. Tried several times with no success.

Mr. Hurst does excellent engraving work. I have been thinking some about having one of my Ballards engraved with the Frogmoor scenes, it's just humorous to look at & brings a smile to your face!
I also have a Hurst engraved Ballard with Dragons on it that I like. 
I will add to the comments of your excellent checkering on a complex pattern. Making those diamond points come out correctly is not easy!
