How many F's do you use? (Black Powder)

According to the load chart on Goexpowder.com, FFF is best for small calibers like the 25-25 and 25-21. Is this what you guys use?

Also if I load 21 grains in a 25-25 case, do I need to use a wad?

FFG is as small a granulation as I've ever used and I use FG for everything 32/35 and larger. The "fines" in GOEX are bad in the finer granulations.

I use Swiss FFFg in my .40-60 Maynard, .40-65 WCF, .38-50 Remington Hepburn and plan on using it in my 8x58 R.

I am using Swiss 3 FG in my Ballard No.2 .25-25 Stevens.  I have been experimenting with lesser charge weights.  At first I used cow measured out with the Lee dipper kit..Hoiwever, I am using RCM brass turned from solid bar stock..the machining striations left in case neck..although quite fine were catching onto the probably solidified under pressure cow & stretching cases..and had 1 seperation.  Since then, I have been using Puff-Lon fibre filler..no more problems & accuracy is excellent.

I wouldn't pay much attention to the Goex load chart.

You might find good accuracy using anything from Fg to FFFg.

With black powder you'll want to use a wad if you are breech seating.   I always use them when shooting fixed ammunition, but not everyone does.

I use 3F Goex for all my pistol cal. loads & shotgun used in SASS.
I also use it in my .45-70 and .45-90 Shiloh's.

Every time I have to use BP a few extra F words are added to my vocabulary.

Use 1 1/2F Swiss or 2F Goex in my 38-56 as want a fairly coarse powder to help fill the case enough to keep the wad in the neck (very important on bottle-neck cases).
Use 2F Swiss or Goex in the 40-65 as do not need to worry about the wad location. Will also try some 1 1/2F Swiss at some point, but 2F Swiss shoots so good in it I haven't bothered.
Plan to use 1 1/2F or 2F in the 38-50, depending on how full I want the case. Might even try 3F.
Can't imagine using anything but 3F in the 25-20WCF.
