25-20 ss again

I just received some of Bennett's swaged bullets and need a load to try them with.

Rifle is a CPA, Krieger barrel 1-10 twist, breech seating, Jamison  brass and new bullets are 124 grain.  Intended for match shooting only, 200 yards,  no hunting.  I currently use 4227 and would like to stay with that if possible.

Thanks,

Mike

Mike, I got my Stevens 441/2 a new 10 twist barrel about 2 weeks ago.  Working up loads using a Paul Jones spritzer 122 grs. and a Hoch 128 gr. bullet.  best loads to date at 100yds has been 8.5 grs of 4227 and 9.5 grs of A#4100.  I am breech seating and using a tuft of Dacron on the powder.  Hope to get time on the 200yd. line next week.  I hope you get more responses to your query I will be checking back hoping more info gets posted;

Pick a starting place with the powder on hand and get out and see what your rifle likes in both powder charge and primers. What works for others won't typically work exactly the same for you and your rifle. To get everything out of what your rifle has to offer can only be achieved by you and countless hours spent out at the range doing development work.

Rikkit,

Thank you for the information, it's just the kind of thing that I am looking for.  I've been shooting a 105 grain Brockway for the last couple of years and have wanted to move up to something a little heavier.  I'm still working on a 124 grain mould but I won these Bennett swaged bullets in the ASSRA Quarter Bore matches this summer so at least I have something to try.  Unfortunately I won't get any range time until I get back to AZ in another month but would like to get as many useful ideas as I can.

Mike
