Seems really odd, no other posts on the molds purchased or how the bullets perform. Maybe we're blessed out here in the West with good weather?
Breech seating is very easy with a plugged 32-40 case and thumb power. So far, I'm happy as a clam with my mold and the way the bullets perform in my .33 rifle.

Thank you Frank, you did good designing the bullet and arranging the group buy Wink

Or maybe, most of the buyers of the .340 mold didn't understand that their rifles groove diameter needs to be close to .340 for the mold and bullet to work. Maybe there's a bunch of mold buyer shooter guys sitting out there in internet cyber never never space wondering how they can unload that mold that casts bullets too big for their rifles?

Thanks for the kind words, Joe. I was happy to do it. I've studied match spitzers ever since I got into this game in '85 and enjoy designing them.

As far as it being .340, the freebore in mine is .339 but, my groove diameter is .337. It BS a little harder than my other bullet but, it's showing real promice. You could also run it through a .338 or .339 sizer after lubing. It didn't come out exactly to my design, the 2 middle bands should have been .338 and .337 but, they are .339 and .331 on my bullet. 30/1 is another option.

As for a .340 barrel, I know a guy a bit North East of you that will do that.

Cliff? He retired...?

My barrel happens to be .340 after all the lapping I did to remove the rings in it. Glad I got the mold. With a little fiddling should be a real tack driver.

Have to figure a way to get Jerry up to Spokane this spring. I usually have a good supply of some sort of dunkel beer. Just dark or stout or both. Usually a big bottle of corn licker.

Oh, you mean Ron Smith. Yes he could do one for sure. Most likely his son or grandson now.

Yes and we need to make sure he gets his "prizes" the day before we shoot and late into the night  Smiley

Pretty sure you have the advantage right now. Your rifle is shooting pretty darn good. Think mine will do better with some tweaking. Need to make an adjustable breech seater for it. Will try muzzle loading it too.  Left hand twist to sort out too. Heck, I should get a few points from the get go.   Roll Eyes

I'd really love to see how it shoots ML. Don't be so stingy with that 4227, I think it needs to be feed more. I wish I could use it in mine but, it just likes #9.

No points Smiley

I'm sure it is too big to ML in my Stevens-Pope barrel.  My Hoch is too big unless I go super soft, maybe 50/1 to get it down.  I only ML the Schoyen bullet that came with it.  In my experience, ML is best for BP and BS for smokeless.  That  is limited to this one rifle only.  YMMV significantly  Cheesy  Maybe Joe will have a different  result after running the bullet through his  testing lab set up with hundreds of test rifles.   Grin

Sad to say I only have the one .33 rifle. Had a difficult time finding the correct size mold until Frank arranged everything.

I coworker once shot an astounding ten shot group with a breech muzzle loader when we were working in Kentucky.  He was loading and shooting, I was spotting.  All I told him was "good shot" after each shot. His jaw actually dropped when he saw the target.

32-40 muzzle loaded, 13.5 gr 4227. Iron sights.
