I guess that I have to be the first to post on shooting the bullet I designed. It took me awhile to get it to the range. Between the rain and building a new well house, I haven't had much time.

When I first got the mold, I heated it up and had z lot of trouble getting good bullets. They wouldn't fill out, even after getting the lead to 820 deg. I haven't had another chance to cast any and I'm hoping I can get some good ones next time. I sorted out the best 30 bullets but, the best of those, still had a wrinkles in them, not what I'd call match grade bullets. I did weight them and soted them that way.

I shot 10 foulers before starting the targets. The first target is the one with the 3/4" dot. It measures 1.6 with 8 shots in 1.1. I then adjusted the POA and went on to the second, score target, thinking that I was going to shoot a 250 (LOL). First 2 where 25's on the right, the third was a low left 24, then the low left 23. I held a little high center and got the low left 25, then the next 2 left hand 24's. The last 2 where the 25's closest to center for a sad 244 5c. The score group is 2.0"

It was a near perfect day, almost no wind and no mirage. The sun came out when I started the score target, that didn't help.

My other bullet weighs 240 as opposed to this ones 230 gr. I didn't chrono the loads, so I don't know how much higher the velocity but, it shot a full 2" higher than the 240 gr bullet. It may also have a higher BC causing part of it. I also liked the noticeably less recoil.

I'm not sure if I'll shoot it all next year, I have a RKS 30 cal barrel to put on my Hoch and plan to shoot it at Spokane this year but, I'll take it out a few more times, for sure.

BTW, this shooting was done with my Canadian #9 that I got fron Dave Smiley

Finally got to the range today. Tested the NOE .340 bullets in my #4 Ballard.

Breech seated the bullets. Used IMR4227. Started at 13.5 gr. Conditions, windy blustery cold. Played around with different weight powder charges but couldn't get a good group going until I had six bullets left. Last six shots were from a clean barrel. First shot was high and the last five went into about a 1 1/4 inch group.  Didn't have any wind flags out.  Might add that this rifle is a breech muzzle loader that has no tapered lead into the bore.

Well Frank, I guess it's just you and me.  Tommy's in May, we find out if there's enough room for the two of us in Spokane.

Ok Joe, it's a deal Wink

Maybe we could get Jerry H and Tony H up there with their 33's also and with Bob, we could have a all 33 side match Smiley

I would really like to make the trip north. I doubt I can find the funds though. Maybe if I only eat beans and rice until then. Oh wait! That's what I eat now.......... only because that's what I like.

Seriously, if I can find a way to make the trip, I'll be there. You do have QB matches too, right?

Yes, Jerry, We do have Q'Bore matches. I'll tell Sue and Gary to put your name on the trophy if you can make it Wink

We also have a German rifle match if you have one of those. It's a great match with great people, what more can be asked Smiley

I'll be there for NW at the end of the week.  Canadian will be on Mother's Day and it is rather pointless to shoot irons in the RKS.  May as well just throw rocks and save the powder, primers and lead.  Get about the same score Shocked

Jerry,
I'd be happy to supply a bottle of Rye Whiskey, I don't like or even know where to get good dark beer (maybe Joe does or even Bob). Just let me know your going and it's yours Smiley

Bob,
I'm sure you can do better with your rifle than rocks (especially with that new "magic" bullet), maybe we can give you a 2 point handy cap for irons. It would be worth it just to see your rifle.

Now, what's going to take to get Tony there?

Joe,
You better check with Sticky on that "dog eat dog" stuff Smiley
