I guess that I have to be the first to post on shooting the bullet I designed. It took me awhile to get it to the range. Between the rain and building a new well house, I haven't had much time.
When I first got the mold, I heated it up and had z lot of trouble getting good bullets. They wouldn't fill out, even after getting the lead to 820 deg. I haven't had another chance to cast any and I'm hoping I can get some good ones next time. I sorted out the best 30 bullets but, the best of those, still had a wrinkles in them, not what I'd call match grade bullets. I did weight them and soted them that way.
I shot 10 foulers before starting the targets. The first target is the one with the 3/4" dot. It measures 1.6 with 8 shots in 1.1. I then adjusted the POA and went on to the second, score target, thinking that I was going to shoot a 250 (LOL). First 2 where 25's on the right, the third was a low left 24, then the low left 23. I held a little high center and got the low left 25, then the next 2 left hand 24's. The last 2 where the 25's closest to center for a sad 244 5c. The score group is 2.0"
It was a near perfect day, almost no wind and no mirage. The sun came out when I started the score target, that didn't help.
My other bullet weighs 240 as opposed to this ones 230 gr. I didn't chrono the loads, so I don't know how much higher the velocity but, it shot a full 2" higher than the 240 gr bullet. It may also have a higher BC causing part of it. I also liked the noticeably less recoil.
I'm not sure if I'll shoot it all next year, I have a RKS 30 cal barrel to put on my Hoch and plan to shoot it at Spokane this year but, I'll take it out a few more times, for sure.
BTW, this shooting was done with my Canadian #9 that I got fron Dave
