Ok, thats 6 orders and I should be able to get it going now.

Another question:

How many would like brass molds and how many aluminum?

Anyone else is still free to add to the orders.

Up date:

The mold was put on the active list and the tooling ordered.

The aluminum molds are $79 plus shipping of about $5.80 and the Brass mold is $101 + shipping. Keep in mind that If you join the NOE forum, you get a 15% discount, making them $67.15 and $85.85.

BTW, I get nothing out of this, no commission or anything else. I will only get a bullet that I think will be better than the one I have been shooting.

Thanks for your efforts Frank.  I have never had a brass mold that I recall other than a brass liner in a Schoyen.  Used a few Aluminium ones.  Any advantage to brass over Al?

Brass molds are the easiest to cast from, and hold the most even heat in my experience.  They wear better than aluminum, but not as well as cast iron.  I really like the brass molds I have.

Aluminum is the hardest mold to cast consistently with, and wears out the fastest.  But, it's the cheapest up front.  It also heats up the easiest, so for small bullets it can have an advantage.  It also is lighter, which can help with hand fatigue.  But, the fast heating is offset by weight variation as it's hard to hold consistent temp.  I've given up on every aluminum mold I own, never use them except for one or two that I cast a few bullets with because I have no other mold and don't want to invest in one for limited use.

Thanks for the input Dave.  Most of my Al mold casting was with a 550 gr 45 in an NEI mold.  It had a fairly large block so I didn't notice any real issues with it. The others I didn't use enough to form any real opinions.   I think I'll go for the brass.  Thanks again, Bob

Joe,
Your "on the list". But, I'm sure that your on many lists Smiley

Bob,
I've only had one brass mold, It was a Egan MX3 but, I only cast with it once before I sold it so, I don't know to much about them. The reason I'm getting brass is durabilty. I plan to cast a lot of bullets from this mold so, maybe I'll have a lot more to say after.

I want the plain base bullet in Brass, Frank. I also registered on the NOE site.  All that along with my pre-senior discount..............

Just curious, Frank. Why do I see "Loverin" on the NOE site?

I was asked to design a Loverin type bullet for a 33 cal. It just works out that it also makes a good BS bullet for our rifles.
