Seeking additional info on A.F.W. Timner Sheutzen

Greetings and thanks for accepting my request. I have been attempting to learn more about a Sheutzen rifle my father acquired during World War II. I have learned a few things but am still curious about it and its history if it can be determined. The rifle has some beautiful engraving work as I have learned many Sheutzens did. I understand that they are not particularly rare so its primary value may be as a keepsake and a testament to old world skills. Other than "A.F.W. Timner Coblenz" on the top of the barrel and the Crown over B and Crown over U proof marks on the right side of the receiver . My reading has lead me to believe this dates the rifle post 1891. I have read that Timner did drillings but have so far found no reference to Sheutzens in the limited references I have located. I would appreciate any additional information someone might have about this beautiful rifle. I am assuming it is chambered in the 8.15 x 46R which was a popular caliber apparently. It is close to .30 caliber. Sadly the rear sight was not acquired or went missing. Thanks.

Remove the forearm and see if there are numbers on the barrel -they will usually tell you the caliber and the date as well as other info. Post a picture if you find any, fill the numbers with white chalk or whiteout so they are more visible, if you can.
You should see something like this.

    Tom Rowe has published a series of (alas, expensive) books on the German rifles.  Generally the name on the bbl is that of a retailer.  From the books and an examination of the mechanism, you can determine the type of action and sometimes the maker, or at least the "system".

OK lets see if I can decipher this--- The following is not set in stone as I am no expert. The info is from the set of books mentioned previously.
The action is basically a Martini type but the system (innards) is unknown as the rifle would have to be dissembled.

AW==Adalbert Wolf    - Barrel Maker There are several AWs but only one listed as a barrel maker.
7.7mm ==bore, Most likely a 8.15x46R
10.12==should be the date Oct 1912 of proof.
176==Proof house serial??
B,G,U proofs ==B first proof,U second proof,G rifled barrel proof. These are the most common proofs -B,G,U. and can be found anywhere on a rifle.
GB and 14 ==???????

Go here and poke around, you will find it interesting (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

My interpretation is the same as Stractor.  Proof dates from Oct. 1910.

Biggi, some help here is needed.

Thank you. For forty plus years I've been wondering what this rifle was. All my father said was it was a  German hunting rifle, which wasn't quite the case obviously. He was a military governor briefly at the end of the war and I assume he acquired it at that time.

I was thinking today how wonderful it would be if I could repatriate this rifle to the family of its original owner, but the chances of doing that are virtually non-existent without more information.
