The other side is a mirror image of the side in the picture.  There is a thin section between the large hole and the upper hole.  The lower hole goes all the way through fhe fly slot.  No fly or half cock notch.      andy

IT LOOKS LIKE THE FACE OF THE HAMMER, WHERE IT STRIKES THE BLOCK, IS ALSO CHANGED. TRUE? i WOULD GUESS THE HAMMER FALL IS SHORTENED BY THE CHANGE IN SEAR NOTCH LOCATION. iS THERE ANY CHANGE IN THE MAIN SPRING?

The hammer has the full cock notch removed, not the half cock notch. The front of the hammer has been cut back in order to get enough fall from the half cock notch to strike the primer with enough force to set it off.

Jerry-H Look again, the long notch is the half cock notch and the one that is still there is the full cock notch. The long one would hold the Hammer at half cock. The short one that still exists would mean the Hammer has to be drawn back farther to engage the Sear. Regards, FITZ. Smiley

Fitz,

My mistake, you're right. I saw the slot for the fly and forgot it extended that far up the hammer.

That'll teach me to open my mouth before I check things out in more detail.

Thanks for catching that so I didn't mislead anyone.

The only remaining notch is the original full cock notch, reshaped.  The full fly slot is still there.
Wish I had thought to lay this hammer on top of an original to show the difference.  Next time.
The main spring is as original.
I believe all the hammer spur mods were made from the back of the hammer. Perhaps with a little forging.
The hammar is an overall grey. Rehardened I believe.

Ok, so if the hammer has both a full cock and a half cock notch. Is it shot w/o a fly in the half cock notch or is the fly just missing in the picture?

Frank I believe the half cock notch was ground off as
Andy stated the only one remaining was the full cock.

Does anyone know if Pope went to a coil-spring action after 1906? If so, did he go with similar mods on that hammer?

Shot next to a fellow at the 3-day MI match last month who had lightened his hammer and shot from the half-cock position. I did not pay enough attention to know if he was shooting a flat-spring or coil-spring action. However, it shot well for him and he shot his highest scores ever (AAA), which was very nice as he has only been shooting single-shots for about a year.
