I am going to start shooting cast bullets breach loaded. What would you recommend for a lube? I will be using IMR 4227 for Powder.

Thanks ron

In your location, you can just mix even amounts (1lb each) of Vaseline and paraphine together, add a table spoon of STP if you like. It's called Darr lube, a excellent lube for <85 deg and <1500 fps. I used it for 12 years with excellent accuracy.

There is a "sticky" at the top of this category that is chock full o' lube formulas.

Gentlemen, thank you for your suggestions. I was looking to find if one lube would stand out more then the other. I guess everyone has their own idea which one is best. Heat is not a big factor in my part of the country, upper North East corner of New England.

I've been using the JSL in upper NYS and find it the best I've tried so far. CPA has it for sale.

And there's always good old Emmert's Lube, which is some variation of 50% beeswax, 45% Crisco™, and  5% anhydrous lanolin.  I've seen that used for about everything from 25-20 SS to 58 cal Minie Balls.  Where you are (as someone mentioned already) most anything will work.  Of course if you want the very best, read Charlie Dell's book and the chapter on lubes and after your eyes roll back into place you will surely know which lube to use!  He talked about pretty much all of them!
