I have now shot 188 rounds out of my cpa 32-40, and I am getting some fairly good groups. not the half inch groups that everyone talks about but good honest 5 shots into an inch or a bit less. anyway I am almost out of imr 4227 and was wondering what to go with next.( cant find any 4227 in any store around) as I would prefer to use a powder I already have I thought maybe I could get help here. I have a few pounds of 4759, some 2400, unique, herco, a small amount of win 296 and h110. I forgot some 4198. I am breach seating a .322 200 gr. hoch bullet.
anyway a bit of help with starting loads would be appreciated. the first time I shot it I had a lot of lead since than no leading. don't know what happened as I didn't do anything special to keep it from leading but it really just quit leading.

If you want to use 4759, you'll need to weigh the charges or use a B&M measure. 14.0 will be a good starting place. Go up to 14.6 gr from there. Use pistol primers with it. I've found 2 1/2 Rem to be best.

2400, I've never used but, it's burn rate is simular to #9. use 12.0 gr of it to start.

H110 & 296, use 13.0 gr, go down to 12.5 and up to 14.0 gr. It's a excellent powder.

.75 is more realistic for average grouping. Excellent wind reading will get you into the 1/2" range, if the lube, BSing depth and primers go with the load.

thanks for your reply I am lucky that I have a belding and mull measure. one of these days the power ammo situation will level out. at least I hope it does. I am currently trying different wad material and haven't played with different powder charges much. in my experience changing one thing at a time leads to a solution the quickest.  again thanks for your reply I think I will try both 4759 and some 296. argie1891
