I have a Stevens 44 with a lined barrel  1-10 twist. I would like to shoot a bullet weighing about 100 gr.  I have been looking at a RCBS mold # 57903 GC  100 gr.  I will be loading fixed ammo.  Anybody have any experience with this bullet ? Thanks Undecided

With a 10" twist you should be able to go up to a  120gr bullet without a problem. Believe that is weight most 25-20 shooters are shooting in 10" twist barrels with good success (shooting 245+).

RCBS makes a 120 gr GC mold for 25 cal.  I was thinking of trying this mold and wonder if anyone else has used this mold?

Contact Ken Meyers of the Quater Bore Corp. and he will help you with great information about the 25 cal rifles. There are a few place that make custom molds for the 25 like Pioneer products 937 839-4363 and 937 833-2865.

You should not be loading hot enough to require a gascheck bullet in your Stevens 44.  Check with any of the custom bullet makers for a plain base mold.  For fixed ammo, I use the RCBS plain base "Cowboy" 85 gr bullet in all of my 25's from 10" to 14" twists in addition to several custom plain base bullet molds from 90 to 115 grains.

ACGould, I have the RCBS 25-85 CB mold and would like to know what you recommend for  powder and stating load in the 25-20SS. I have a Stevens 44 that's in great condition and have been having a tough time getting it to shoot good. It starts to group and then they start going all over the place. The bullets are weighed and sorted. I size them to .257 and shoot them as fixed ammo with the bullet engraved in the rifling through the first driving band. Have tried several different primer and powder. Would like to hear what you suggest.
                                    thanks, Sendaro
