Alox as a lube

Does anyone use straight Alox as a lube when shooting grease groove cast bullets with smokeless?  I have a lube mixture I use for blackpowder that has Alox as a component.

Yes, I've used Lee's liquid alox on all types of bullets, and although the coating seems thin, they shoot well and don't lead up the bore.

If you're talking about Alox 2138F, the very heavy grease form, you wouldn't use that alone.  The old NRA formula lube was Alox 2138F 50/50 with beeswax.  That was for smokeless loads of all types.  Not really good for  black powder unless cut substantially with Crisco or other vegetable based lube.

I was taught to not use petroleum products with black powder as it made the fouling tarry. You can use Alox it will grease the bore but you will probably have better luck with a Bees wax / Lanolin formula.
