lube coloring

I want to test a new lube formula and would like to color the lube so that it can be identified when I shoot the bullets. Is there a way to add color to the lube which will not affect the results? I have some colored candle wax but that is not part of the formula so I would prefer to find another way.
Thanks!

I have used a Crayon in the past, doesn't take a very big piece to change the color and probably not enough to affect your formula. Tried to find the old style the new ones don't work very well.

Joe, just mark the bullet with a red magic marker for the experimental lube.  When the bullet hits the target, there will be a red ring around the hole

go to most any crafts store-Michaels- where they have candle makins, get some of the dye sticks they have and you are in business. one packet lasts a long time in any color you want. pink is hot!! Smiley Smiley Smiley

I tried the wax dies from the candle makers and found it to be very expensive; needed to add lots of it for it to show on the targets.

I add a large can of black shoe polish to my lube so it leaves a better ring on the target.

Do not use green shoe polish. Pat Weber uses green so she can differentiate her bullet holes from everyone else's.

When shooting the Audette-type "ladder" test in my ... er, 'match-tuned black rifle', I use red, blue, green, and black colored markers to identify the powdah increments ...

Add in 'plain' bullets and I can differentiate between the 5. Biggest problem I've run into is doing so at a long enough distance (recommend min 200Ys) so that the 'sweet spot' nodes don't end up all over each other.

... haven't tried it yet w/ my CPA 38-55 ...

All of my single shots shoot one tiny ragged hole with cast bullets ... it's just the following shots that tend to open up my groups Wink ...

Thanks everyone for the great ideas. I do not need to be able to see a mark on the targets, just want to be able to tell the difference on the bullet. Joe S

Will it work if you paint the bullets with permanent markers?
The tip wont rub off in the barrel and will still break the paper and some might just make a coloured ring on the target.

Try lipstick.  Comes in lots of colors and is not expensive.  The compounds used as a base are also "lube-friendly".

I used to stamp the noses of my 330 gr 45's with a number die.

Small bullets nose pour not enough room to stamp.  Now I mark the case by the primer with a sharpie when testing
