Still chasing the elusive butterfly....

How to find what happened with two of 'em.

.375 win, 18gr 4227, one of my measured seating depths, 300gr Saeco 571 sized to .378 (I think).  NO crimp, tight slip-fit (un-lubed bullet will slip, lubed needs the press).

Try Meacham for inline seaters for bp cartridges. (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

I look at the primer before I charge a case.   Sort of a Ballard habit to keep from double charging. I t has worked really good so far, I don't remember dumping power looking at the primer, but it could happen and probably will someday.

Excellent reference - thanks!

I don't think the seater would make much difference SINCE the bullet is slip-fit (over coming a full surface of lube over the long length takes a little bit of a push, hence the press).  If I didn't mind sore thumbs I could seat them by hand.

HOWEVER, I have not measured runout.

The cloverleaf says to me: these three were consistent AND there was SOME variable(s) where the other two were different.

Haven't found it yet.

GOOD habit!

Could be part of a sequence in handling to orient the case (indexing) the same way in the press.

I do that too, but the primary function is never, ever double charge a Ballard, especially one with a Stevens Pope barrel  Undecided
