Hi,

I have a Winchester Repeating Arms mold 32-185 I want to try in my 32-40 Stevens 44-1/2. It looks like a plain base. The nose is flat. Any smokeless powder loads you guys have would be appreciated.

Bob.

Any of the standard loads will work for that bullet, such as 14 - 15 gr 4227. There are lots of loads in the stcky above.

One thing to consider is, most of the Winchester molds that I've seen have a rounded base and if the base isn't at least .002 over groove, it could gas cut.

Are going to shoot it fixed or breech seated?

Frnkeore,
I'm not sure, the base looks flat I was thinking of trying it breech seated. I'm new to this Single Shot and learning as I go, what would you suggest?

13.6 grains of 4759, then when it works, buy all of that powder you can find because it is being phased out at the end of the year.  Sad

Below are shown a simple push type breech seating tool plus the steps for breech seating a bullet. After the bullet is seated, insert a primed cartridge case, charged with powder, to fire.

There are indeed two Americas. Simply put, it is not the haves and have nots. The two Americans are in reality divided into those who do and those who don't.
