I have a tang sight with the letters RA on the base, it is curved for a No.2 RB, in fact it was mounted on one I picked up., also has a Beech front sight with it

Is this the sight a few individuals were lamenting about owning

Could be for sale if I knew more about what it is worth....any interest and I will post a few pictures

The Lyman tang sight with the RA code was used on the #2 Rolling Block, the #3 Hepburn and the #5 Rolling Block. If you have a #1 Rolling Block properly drilled and tapped, you can use it on that as well.
Sometimes the base of the RA sight was curved when installed on a #2, and sometimes not.
Price depends a lot on condition of the sight, and some have preferences as to whether the sight is a 1, 1A, 2, or 2A version.

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

The question is whether it was factory bent, or done by the owner-gunsmith when installed on a #2. I'm not certain that Lyman or Marbles made a specific sight for the #2, but maybe Rem. offered a specific sight for the model.
I'd like to see a picture of your Lyman sight.

Story

I bought this gun from a friend of mine at a gun show...the barrel was bent, the upper tang was arc welded together..the job was done with the sight on the gun and the buttstock

My friend TIG welded the tang 6 times to get the inclusions out..I polished and ground till it looked OK

We made a new CF block and reamed the chamber to 32s&w long..shot OK..not great

This is when we found the bent barrel..I figured someone along the way used that ol piece of iron for a prybar..I relined it with a TJ liner and chambered it in 32-20...new tang sight and front sight and it has been resurrected.....I was not trying to restore to original, so I was not concerned with some aesthetics...just shootable
