Our matches - heated indoors shooting room to outside tank.  Eight shooting positions shot in relays depending on number of shooters.  25 to 38 caliber, US or metric  Specific match days for 22 rim fire
* Two 25 German ring targets per shooting position: sighter & for score
* 50 yds offhand - 40 shots total for record
* 10 shots for score per target - no time limit
* Total score for the 4 targets
For variety, we also use picture targets. Club breakfast also available before the weekly matches, January through April

Sorry for the typo, should have said;
I believe you mean 50 feet, not 50 yards?

We shoot a gallery match at the Wheaton Rifle Club. 80 shots per match (two sets of 4 targets). We shoot the ASSRA #7 target. 2 shots in each scoring bull. We add a luck match which is the best center shot on the sighter. All at 50 feet, standing.

Ballards may be weaker,

Our club doesn't shoot gallery matches anymore, as it died out. When we did we shot only .22RF, at 50 ft. Matches were all offhand, and scopes or iron sights competed evenly. The targets were std. 50m reduced for 50 ft. targets, and we fired 3 shots at each bull, for a total of 36 shots and repeated with a new target for a 2nd relay. We had 12 shooting positions, and occasionally had all positions full. Don't remember what the time limit was, as it was always more than anyone ever used up.
It seems that groups tend to make their own rules for what target, and how many shots fired, but almost everyone uses 50 ft. indoors.
We also shot 50 ft. gallery matches for pistol, and they consisted of either .22RF in three relays on a std. indoor target shot offhand in "slow"(10 min.)-"timed"(two 10 sec) and "rapid fire"(two 5 sec) relays. 10 shots on each target, and repeated for a total of 60 shots. All shooting was done with 5 rds., so half the time was used for each relay of 5 rounds.
Some clubs shot a 3 gun relay, so they fired the same in RF, but repeated with a .45 CF, and an "any caliber" CF, which most shooters used their .45 for again, but some had a smaller .38 they shot.
