Spotting/rifle scope adapter

Sometimes I want to use a rifle scope as a spotting scope, so here is an adapter for external adjustable scopes-regular and posa mounts; and internally adjustable scopes with Weaver style rings. The messy Weaver mounts are my fault. Steve put my name on it to attach blame.
Adapter very nicely made by:

I made almost the exact same set-up to utilize a B&L 36X benchrest rifle scope, before buying a good spotting scope reasoning that it should have good potential. Using at 300 Meters was a real disappointment (especially since the same scope on a rifle in the bags was quite good for spotting holes at this distance ) and finally gave up and bought the spotting scope . At shorter ranges it may be OK ? but I wouldnt expect too much

I wish I had a rifle scope that was even 80% as good as my spotting scope.  I'd mount it on a rifle and use it.

Now, I've never had the opposite desire, to use a spotting scope as poor as my best rifle scope!

So, would you say that at 300 metres a good spotting scope works better than a good rifle scope? Zounds! Who would have thought?

Actually even cheap spotting scopes on the same tripod stand compared were much superior to the 36X B/R scope.
But when on a rifle rested on the bench in bags  the same scope was superior to the cheapie spotters , and about equal to the best spotting scopes on sturdy tripod
