Well, no, except, what are you going to do for mounts?  Unless you intend on using that Mossberg side mount; maybe they work OK--I know nothing about them.  Though of so-so quality, they're rather scarce--Wollensack only made scopes for a few years, ending production at the beginning of WW II.

I'll have to fire up the mill and see what happens.

I have a bunch of these scopes (2 Wallensak and the rest Mossberg) and mounts. There what got me into external scopes. I also made a tube sight using these mounts but, I cut the ends off and mounted them to dovetails.

As a historical note. The Mossbergs and Wallensak octualar lens cells (4 lens, a stop and spacers) are internally EXACTLY the same, as is most of the rest of the scope.

Have never handled one of the Mossbergs, but wondered where they were made.  Makes sense to have contracted the optical work to Wollensack (maker also of Marlin & Sears scopes), a major optics mfgr.

This is the Mossberg history. It looks like he learn scopes at Stevens.

Oscar F. Mossberg, a native of Sweden, came to the United States in 1886.  Soon after his arrival he joined with the Iver Johnson Corporation in the bicycle plant.  Fortunately his interests lied more in the firearms side of the plant and his unique development of the "Hammer the Hammer" action that made Iver Johnson revolvers famous.

After a few years Mossberg left Iver Johnson for a job as Superintendent of the Shattuck Arms Company, maker of fine palm pistols, revolvers and shotguns.

In 1900 he signed on with the Stevens Arms Corporation and stayed there for the next 14 years.

His scopes were excellent in there time, especially the 7C8. 8X that goes on standard Winchester blocks. His 20X, Model A spotting scope and stand was also a excellent scope.

What year did Wallensak produce their first rifle scope?

Not earlier than '35 or '36, I think.  Could look through my mid-'30s Rifleman for first ad if it were REALLY important to find out. That's why I say they're relatively scarce--only 5-6 yrs production.

Surprised none of these have that folding fore-end; always wanted one of these when I was kid, but don't ask me why.

The Model 6 mount, like Nessmuk bought, was first produced in 1935. It was, I believe Mossbergs first available scope.
