Values of the old single shots?

Hi everyone, does anyone have an appropriate value for a stevens 441/2 in 32-40. The rifle is in good condition. It has a very god bore and chamber. The case colors are still bright (the profile picture is it) it has a slight discolor at the muzzle from a scope mount I'm told. The wood is good to above average. I've seen some crazy prices on these and was hoping someone could give me a better idea. I can't seem to post pictures but I could email them to someone to help with this.
Thanks.

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

I'd be glad to help, and pictures would be necessary, as Stevens made so many models that prices vary greatly. A standard 44.5 vs. the higher models can be many times different in price range.

As stated we need pictures. You need to put them on  site like photobucket first. I would say that would be hard to buy a basic version as you describe for $1,000 or less. Go to Gunbroker.com and do a search of closed auctions. Nice  44's bring $1,000 to $2,000 plus depending on condition, caliber, and options. What is the asking price?

Case color on the receiver looks really good. The rest of it looks good but more and better photos will help.
Would like to see a good close up of the rear tang sight. It looks like a windage adjustable Lyman and it could be worth $400-$500 by itself.

I'm still trying on the pictures, I'm using an iPhone and they are too big, today it's warm enough to take some outside with my other camera. The tang sight is windage adjustable with the words "Pat.JUL,25,05. OCT 15,07. On the ring at the base of the sight. The serial number on the rifle is 9281.

Thanks again for all your help guys..and if it stays warm tomorrow I will shoot this old girl again!

I'd put the value of the rifle in the $850 to $1000 range, with the rear sight it'd bump it up to the $1200 to $1300 range.  Might take a while to sell, but the value is there, just have to wait for the right buyer.

Dave, I wish I lived south of the border.  That'd list for at least twice the price up here.

Bob, welcome to the Forum.

There are lots of nuances when it comes to old Stevens rifles.  Please remove the forearm and tell us if there are markings on the face of the action.  If markings are present, please tell us about them.

Thanks,

waterman

Bob,

Don't see that anyone else has mentioned it yet...  is your rifle equipped with the Stevens single-set trigger?
I see a screw-head just forward of the trigger in the 030.jpg picture of the lower tang, which is why I'm asking.
