Miroku stock question.

Gents,

I have a new (2012) Miroku Winchester 1885 Traditional Hunter in 38-55. I like the gun, and shoot it resonably well, and would like to put some wood on it that is more condusive to longer distance shooting (for me that is 300 yards).

Does anyone have any insight into whether a replacement stock set for a BPCR with pistol grip and shotgun butt would bolt onto my rifle where the straight grip and crescent came off?

I am not a woodworker, so fitting an aftermarket stock is not an option.

Thanks,

Stewart

Had the exact rifle which has moved on to a friend (28" full octagon 15" twist barrel). Had it re-chambered in 38-56 and it beat the crap out of my shoulder. Was as simple as replacing the straight-grip, crescent buttplate stock with the pistol-grip, shotgun buttplate stock to make it a pleasure to shoot. I was fortunate in knowing someone who had a repaired Win stock that was a perfect fit. Check with member Texas-Mac (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links) who posts here and makes a business of reselling the Browning/Winchester 1885s. He may have a stock available or know where to find one. Am thinking that both CPA Rifles and Treebone Carving offer the correct stock. Both likely will take a bit of fitting. Also, put a WTB add in the classifieds here and check eBay, Gunbroker and other sites. You never know what you'll find.

If you haven't had the trigger 'touched up' by Lee Shaver for $35 you might want to give it some thought. He did an excellent job on mine.

Perfect!

I think that I am a lot closer to where I want to be than I thought.

I have a copy of that little book about BPCR by Texac Mac and I am on my 4th card of Lee Shavers wonderful front sight inserts - so with a bit of help from this forum I might be OK.

I appreciate your feedback.
