Anybody use the MVA powder measure?

Was thinking of buying one for the range to load for my 218 Bee and 250 Savage.  How do they compare to the Bulding and Mull that they appear to be clones of?  Thanks.  Tom

My spotter uses one and he has no complaints. Have always found the $100 saved on a used B&M to be the better deal. Am using a 12" piece of copper pipe, which is a slip-fit over the small powder reservoir on my B&M to be a good additional.

If you appreciate fine quality tools, the MVA measure is a thing of beauty.  Much more refined in fit and finish.  But, it's design is basically the B&M.  Best design improvement is the quick-release mounting plate and the screw cover on the hopper.  Somewhat smoother operating also.  Both measures will do a fine, accurate job measuring powder.

I've used a B&M for a bunch of years, but when I got the MVA, the B&M got retired.  YMMV

I have and use both.  As stated above they are pretty much equal in all aspects of function, except the powder capacity, which on the B&M can be corrected.  The MVA is truly a work of art, but in my humble opinion has no operating margin over the B&M.  So if you can find a B&M cheap enough, go for it.  (They have become more expensive recently and may not be worth the asking price, once again my opinion.)  If the budget can handle the MVA, by all means go for it.  I should add that this is all for BP>

P.S.  The part that I most cherish are the charge tubes.  I have 6 set for all of the different loads that I am currently using.  When the times comes for any particular load, I just fill the hopper and off I go, no weighing and fumbling to reset the charge tube to the proper amount.  A real time saver.

I use my MVA for loading BPCR cases.
It is the best powder measure I have used for loading black powder.

Other powder measures handle fine ball powder quite well; however the MVA handles the coarser textured and more variable texured powders better than other powder measures.

For loading smokeless in the two cartridges mentioned you might be better served with a measure that doesn't require both the micrometer drop tube to track your powder charge settings and a funnel to get the powder into the case while loading at the range. You will probably have to
fabricate a stand for mounting purposes as well.

As J Louis points out, if you are loading smokeless you'll want something designed for smokeless, like one of the Harrell's. (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links); The B&M/MVA are designed for BP.

Harrell's makes one for loading BP as well.   The last time I checked, it's not advertised on their web site, but Buffalo Arms carries them.   It works well, but does not like Fg.
