Does anyone know how many different places they put the serial number on an old J M Marlin Ballard and where are they located? Wink

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

A whole bunch of places! You'll find the serial number, (or some portion of it) on the receiver bottom front, the barrel under the forearm wood, the back edge of the forearm wood adjacent to receiver, buttstock wood adjacent to receiver, buttplate, both halves of the breechblock, the extractor, and sometimes the metal tang inside the stock.

Thanks.   If I ever find the time I will check mine to see if the stock is original or something my great grandfather had George Anderson do.
