Amazing that the old Ballard would still have paperwork after over 100 years! The paperwork would probably make any old Ballard much more valuable!
If it is all correct, and unaltered in that configuration, it's a huge bargain, as it's a very rare option to have either the full octagon on that model, or the short barrel; so both together are really rare! The buttplate looks like the standard hunter style crescent used on hunting model Ballards. 
Sure looking forward to hearing your update once you've got it home and can give it a thorough examination! I'd love to see pictures of the paperwork too!
