loading data 38 55 w/350 grain bullet

My CPA rifle in 38 55 arrives soon along with a 350 grain Hock mold.  I'm looking for some starting loading data.  I have a variety of powders available so any suggestions are appreciated.

I'll be using it primarily for long range up to 600 yards.

I'm shooting something similar, 360 grain bullet.

Load is:  .38-55, 360 grain bullet at 1400 fps, 24 grains of 4198 powder.  No filler or wad, bullets uncrimped, cases sized for tight slip fit, firmly seated into rifling.

I worked up to about 28 grains, but velocity was too high, used the cronograph to back it off to the 1400 fps.

I've shot this load to 800 yards, it is competitive at 800.  Around a 2 moa load in my rifle.  That's good enough for real world steel gong matches.  I shot this rifle last year at Quigley, so my son could shoot my .45-90.  (We didn't have enough brass for both of us to shoot .45-90).  I hit 6 out of 8 at the buffalo with it.  It was fun to shoot a recoilless rifle for a change!

Thanks Dave.

I used to shoot the Quigley match but haven't for several years.  I'm thinking of going this year.

If you don't mind my asking, where to you live.  I'm from Bigfork, MT.

In case you're interested I have an informal shoot at the family homestead each year the end of September.  Targets from 375 to 1000 yards plus a lot of other stuff.

Here's a link to a quick webpage I put together giving some details.
