Looks very much like a FBW's action.  Ledball

It does look like a fairly close copy of a original HW. It has the sear pin at the top of the action but, the lower tang doesn't look right.

Does look a lot like an early flat side Win High wall, but seems a bit longer, and without the curved edge on the rear.
If it goes cheap enough it could make a very nice BPCR rifle. The .44-100 can have pretty good recoil, but reaches out there for the longrange shots!

This is the DFS action being produced by the fellow in Oklahoma Dennis Fecken who has also taken the time on this site to describe his actions. He goes by 45Bullet on this site. If memory serves me right the ones I have seen listed by him on GB have been substantially cheaper, under six for the straight tang and under seven for the pistol grip.

From a previous post from him.
Re: DFS Hi-Wall Action
Back in the old days 1997 a friend of mine had a FBW rifle in 45-90. At that time I was with OTA building Hepburns. He couldn't shoot long range with us due to no tang for tang sights. This and the fact guns were selling at unreal prices and up to 3 years wait I decided to make the molds and do my own action. It's neither a FBW or Win. Hi-wall but it was heavily influenced by the simplicity of the FBW with the excellent winchester hi-wall extractor. Opening the action lever raises the hammer to the safety position only and does not cock the action. It's heavier built than either and smooth as glass. They are investment cast in 8620. I've done a few in 4140 & 416 S/S. The action resembles and operates like John Brownings original hi-wall (hammer pivot screw) not the Win. modified action. This action has 6 major parts Breech-Block/Link/Lever/Hammer/Trigger/Cable Type Hammer Spring. My background was with NRA  BPCRS and I've seen alot of stuff break so with this in mind, I designed a tank that won't break. These actions have been approved by the NRA for BPCRS. It does have Adjustable sear engagement and average about 2Lbs. of trigger pull. Pins and screws are made of tool steel. Magnum Gunstocks in Florida are doing stock blanks for this action now and it's simple to stock-up. I'm currently doing a few for myself to build me some personal rifles. Seems I get me a rifle built only to get relieved of it. I don't know how many more I'll do, the castings are getting more expensive.
I'm a one man show so not many get made.

It's a Type 1 Action, it has the FBW type extractor. The Type 2 Action has the 9 o'clock Hi-Wall type extractor. Type 1's are history now.

Dennis,

Are the type 2 actions available and if so how does one purchase one?  How about prices? Thanks.

Email me at: dfeken@itlnet.net  I make a very small number of these actions each year. All are of 8620 steel for color casehardening. Straight grip actions are $600, Pistol grip are $700

The lower tang may not look right to you Frank because there are no screws to hold it in place like on a win. hi-wall. No screws to shake loose, it's part of the receiver casting. The pin through the upper part of the receiver is the trigger pivot pin. This action doesn't have a floppy sear with the little spring and screw to hold the spring in place. Sorry if it ain't right to you Frank.
