Is .45-70 Brass lack of availability a new thing?

Or is this due to the brass makers concentrating on the hotter-selling brass to feed the continuing "shortage?"
I just got started in BP, and was sure surprised to find the 10 places I normally buy brass from to be dry. If this is the way it always is, I guess I better find the few hundred that got lost during my last move to Texas.
Thanks!
Amanda

Midway is out of stock of 45-70 brass and is not taking back orders for Win, Rem or Starline brass, but they are accepting backorders for Hornady brass so maybe they are hoping to get some supply in from Hornady in the not-to-distant future, whenever that may be.
Don’t know about Buffalo Arms or other sources.
May be time to go digging through those unopened boxes still packed away from your move.

Starline takes orders toward future runs, credit card does not get charges until they ship. Never has anything in stock far as I know. Put a order in for 500 you can easy sell surplus off on this forum at cost.

Most of the re-sellers have orders in with Starline.

Problem is the same as .22 ammo. Need ten order 100 need 100 order 1000, need 1000 order 10,000. You do not need them but get plenty anyway. That is the shortage.

At the moment Midway has Remington brass for 45-70 Government, better hurry though - probably won't last long!

You need to be aware that Hornady brass is shorter than standard brass for the 45-70. They make their brass for the LeverEvolution ammo which requires a shorter case do to the flex tip bullet being used.

When is Midway ever not out of stock on brass? Seems like almost every time I check for brass there they list it as out of stock. I've gotten where I rarely take the time to look at Midway anymore.

Hi All !!!

Anymore (when I can), I load and shoot from the bench, so I carry ten case's back and forth and that is it for loading my RRB and Trap-Door !!!

For me, this work's out great as I can really focus on my "shot to shot" practice...

Hey!!! Do what you can !!!    Undecided

Ed....

Try Wideners for brass. They have 45-90. You can cut it down if you dont mind the headstamp. $47.00/50

Midway has some Remington 45-70 brass at the moment - better hurry though, it goes pretty fast lately.
