interesting method,  but how many can you cast before they get too hot to handle?
I wear my old firefighters gloves when casting but they are a bit bulky (wish I could find something as effective but less bulky).

The handles actually don't get too hot. I've work simple leather welders gloves with no issue.
The best glove for casting is a good welders TIG glove. Very light weight and good feel but will protect from extreme heat. Not cheap but nice!

The ones with the cotton backs will be considerably more comfortable.

Here in the middle-Atlantic it is another "casting day". With my old handles cast 50x445gr 40cal bullets yesterday and will probably cast 100xsomething today. Was thinking I would slow my casting (have 1800+ bullets at the moment), but guess I'll continue until the weather breaks. At least is moisture rather than drought and rain rather than ice like they are getting as close as 50mi NW of here.

I've been using the Cabin tree handles for a few years. When I received my B&D mould, Jim said to use them so I ordered 2 pair. They need to be adjusted to have slight pressure on the mould halves. These do not need a Vise Grip clamping force. the second thing is to always put them flat on the bench when you close them, this will align the halves. I have a SS sheet of metal on my bench, but if you have a wooden or ? covered top you might consider a piece or sheet of metal just to close the mould on. I did find that they would lose pressure on a long casting session until I updated with the latest brass set screw arrangement.
For gloves, I use a pair of doeskin gloves I bought at the local hardware store. They work fine even for opening single cavity moulds by hand. They are over 10 years old now.
