I wouldn't shoot it myself.  .30-06 case head size cartridges in modern pressure loadings are too much for this action to handle safely.  But at least it's a #5 action and not a #1, it's a little stronger.

Now if it was a 9.5x57R, it might work.

Nice piece of Walnut, that butt stock. To bad the carver ruined it.

As ugly a pistol grip as I've ever seen.  Maybe it could be improved by turning it into a straight grip.

The price is kinda steep for what is essentially a bubba-job.  For a hunting rifle, you'd need to lose the saddle ring noisemaker.

Basically it looks like the answer to a question nobody is asking.

I think a new Pedersoli roller in 40-65 or 45-70 for about the same price would, at least to me be a much better choice. That rifle is butt ugly.

The stock's a bit odd, and a quarter rib isn't my cup of tea.

The 9.5x57 chambering is reasonable, if you don't get carried away. I assume the rimless extractor/ejector was kept, and the CIP pressure limit of 44 ksi isn't too outrageous, although I'd keep it lower than that, of course. It ought to make a fine .375 Winchester equivalent.

Sure is a homely looking stock shape, and a waste of a really nice piece of walnut. I kinda like nicely done old sporters, but this one falls into the category of not too well done for my eyes.
