Hodgdon Lil Gun

Has anyone had any pressure issues with Lil Gun powder?  Use it in a 22 Hornet, can't come close to some suggested loads.  I shoot mainly cast bullets with 9 grs of powder, small pistol primer.  When using jacketed bullets I have flattened and enlarged primer pockets with 40 gr bullet, small rifle primer.  However it is very accurate.

I use it in 32-40 Krag, (30-40 Krag straight taper case). 12 gr under a 200 gr lead bullet. 15 1/2 gr under a 170 gr bullet.

Have used it in 32/40 B&M AKA Winchester. Used 11 gr under a 200 gr lead bullet.

Never a pressure problem.

When I have pressure problems, back off on the powder charge.

IMHO you need to back off, sounds like you're kinda pushing things.  I will say that in my two Hornets I just didn't have good accuracy using any of the conventional powders such as Lil'Gun or 4227.  Finally tried A1680, 13-13.5gr gives me less than 1/4" groups in both guns.  Haven't chrono'ed this yet.  GW

300MP is a good Hornet Powder, provides more velocity with less pressure.

Hodgdon loading manual.  22 Hornet 40 gr bullet, 12-13 grs. Lil Gun.  Maybe in theirs but not mine.  Have not had this happen with other powders in Hornet.

there is more to pressure indications than just the powder charge.  I've had fallen and blown primers with safe loads, well under listed medium safe loads one case with BN bullets and the brass was too thick in the neck.  another where there were problems with an enlarged FP hole combined with pistol primers with a softer alloy for the cup.

bunch of stuff to consider.

OK guys Embarrassed Embarrassed  Obviously my caffeine/blood ratio was waaaay too low when I typed that reply.
S/B  "BN (bottle neck) case and jacketed bullets".  (I had a real "learning experience" making 6.5 redding cases out of mil spec 308 brass.  Thank god Remington factory-ized that cartridge by renaming it the 260 Remington.)
Dunno what the heck I was intending to say with "fallen" might have been starting to say "failed" then partially re edited it and then "auto-correct" did it's weirdness.

No knowledge here, but Lil'Gun may be one of those powders that doesn't take too well to reduced charges.  Just a thought.  GW

Okay, boron nitrided, whatever that is. That just leaves fallen primers.

It happens every time I bump them off the edge of my bench. I hate picking them up.

I've been using Li'l gun and the Sierra 45 gr. Hornet bullet in my Ruger #3 for years with no problems and good accuracy, around an inch at 100 yds which as good as I can do with this configuration of rifle.  I chambered the barrel with a Clymer reamer with a throat too long for the bullet which is maybe why I've not encountered any pressure problems.  Can't seat the bullet out near the rifling or I get a poor powder burn and wild velocity spreads.  Velocity is 2960 and it's bad news for coyotes out to 150 yds.  I've posted (hopefully!) a photo of the shooting lane to the  coyote crossing and one of the rifle and the victim.

I really like your treatment of that #3.  Its a vast improvement on the abyssmally ugly factory stock.
With a cross-keyed forend. it'd almost look like one of those early Hawken-styled single shots
