Not so. I've encountered harassment at several different locations. The very worst happened many years ago in Texas, where the AH actually forced me to open my box for his "inspection."

UPS paid me for a broken gunstock several years ago. Had a young guy who knew nothing about guns to look at the gun and the packaging. No real problem. I prefer to ship and receive guns through USPS. Once my local small town post office confirmed the rules I have never had a problem. UPS and FED EX are difficult to deal with in my opinion.

UPS second day air takes 7-10 days to get to Haines, Alaska.
Then they call me to say I can drive the 25 miles to town and pick up my package, as long as the airport is open. All this for only 2-3 times what the Post Office charges. I hear a few complaints about the Post Office but for my money they do a darn good job.

I just received a parcel containing two small bottles of patch lube and a yard of Teflon patching material. The total weight of the parcel was 3 lbs, the freight cost was 125 dollars US, the contents cost 40 bucks.

Personally I’d rather shave my head with a cheese grater than deal with my post office. Every one of them is an overpaid government union hack trying to do as little as possible until he can find a disability to fake. I have never seen more people who go out of their way to make life difficult.

Big City PO's are the problem, mostly.
I get returned Single Shot Journals, marked "No such address" even though the address has been the same for 10+ years, Yes big city PO. Seems they get a temp letter carrier and they just do not know the route or just to lazy to do their job.
Most PO's have no clue what" Address Service Requested" means, so instead of forwarding the item like it should be they return it. To Lazy to do their job. Yes big city PO.
My local very small PO does a outstanding job in delivery and picking up the mail and packages.
The Lazy assess seem to be in the Metropolitan areas

I have never had a problem with UPS or Fedex and have used them many times for shipping firearms back and forth.
My problem has been with the USPS. In the last month I have had...
2 checks to 2 different locations showed up shredded.
1 package from NC to PA was sent to the wrong post office, returned to sender, then reshipped to me.
1 package that I paid 2-day priority mail on took 17 days to make the trip.
1 package was supposed to be delivered 4 days ago still has not appeared.
AND, my postal carrier is a 2-time convicted shoplifter (while an employee of the usps) and she can't be fired or moved from her job for it. What a union they must have!!!
That is why I will not use usps for anything even remotely important.
Rant over,
Dave
P.S. I live in rural PA, no big city here.
