Lyman Super Target Spot Value?

What is a fair price for one of these in 12x?  A local gunshop has one for $500, but I don't know anything about them. It seems to be in excellent condition with mounts and lens covers.
Thanks in advance for any input.

Good price, make sure the clicks are still there and very positive for both the windage and the
elevation. It does not have enough power for competitive benchrest shooting but it would make a dandy offhand scope.

Decent price IF the box is included.  Values drop off considerably below 15X.  Best way to get an idea of actual selling prices is to check AVERAGE prices of completed auctions on ebay.  Note how many listed by rip-off artists at ridiculous prices did not sell--those are the prices in red.

Great price for a 20X.  Wouldn't be so great for anything below 15X.

So many scope-less boxes are being listed on ebay that I'm beginning to think some of these ebay crooks are separating the boxes from the scopes & selling them separately.

Shovel80 I personnely use 42X, the rest of our group uses 20X on the low end and 36X on the high.

This one was just listed at what seems a fair BIN price:

Damn--within a few hours of its listing, the BIN price of $550 (with box) disappeared!  What's up with that BS?

I think maybe there's a way to set up an auction on Evilbay so that when any bid is placed for less than the buy it now price, the buy it now price is canceled.

Don't agree on the EBay crooks comment, supply and demand drives the price and most are fair for this point in time. I have seen several wood scope boxes the last couple of years that the owners did not seperate from the scope to sell.

Well, how do you account for so many empty boxes being offered for sale?  Every one of those boxes originally held a scope.  Box & scope sold separately would almost certainly bring more than scope with box.  Or do you not belief that ebay is the playground of shady dealers?

Re-Read my post nothing has changed based your comments. Sounds like no matter what the price or the circumstances it will never be fair to you.

You re-read mine--it had NOTHING to do with current prices, rather the unaccountable abundance of empty boxes.

Guy's, when Rifles are often sold as part of an estate the Scopes are often on the Rifle and go with the Rifle. Empty boxes are handled later as part of the miscellaneous  stuff. I have six empty boxes on a shelf right now. The Scopes are on guns and will most likely be sold on the guns. There may be some who would seperate them to sell seperatly but I suspect those are dealer or the buy sell guy's. Regards, FITZ. Smiley
