Man, youse guys make my club range look like a den of libertines.  There are no posted rules at all. On weekdays when I go there's rarely more that two of us there, so we just talk to each other to coordinate trips to the target frames etc.   Common Sense Rules.

Agreed, at my range my range there are about 5 regulars who show up on Saturday mornings. One or two others will show up through the day. A pretty good bunch all in all. That is until hunting season comes around. Every year I get a refresher course on why I don’t hunt any more. One guy showed up using 28 grains of 4759 in his inline cause the manufacturer said it would take smokeless. I found another guy sighting in his new Deerslayer and scope at 200 yards. Until hunting season is over its scary on the line.

I just moved and left behind an old established gun club that was approaching 1000 paid members at $160/year per member. As they grew beyond about 600, the abuse and vandalism to the ranges increased hugely, all done by gun owners who were paid up members. I'm convinced that some gun owners are among the very worst enemies of gun ownership.

BTW, "rapid fire" was posted as disallowed, but that didn't stop it.

I have never understood the concept of shooting up an entire weeks worth of pay in ammunition as fast as humanly possible.

The range we were using is across the street from Bangor sub base. Is a very good range. Used to be I knew most of the range officers. Most retired submariners.  The range is open to members and the public seven days a week. Must have rules and ROs to enforce them. Seems to me they have finally succumbed to the more is better even if its stupid policy. Not fun for me when the safety interferes with the fun. I paid 30.00 dollars for Biggi and I to use the range. Then to have a RO pull his phony balony crap on me....... not fun.
Rapid fire?

Rapid fire = fixed ammo on steroids, Joe. An alien practice that involves destroying the berm as fast as possible.

I used to shoot 3 rounds, walk a 100 yds (twice) to check the target, repeat ....

Then I got a Mac 11 - 9mm.
First time out - 400 rds at a nearby target without a thought - then - hmmm wonder what the target looks like!

Long gone.  Was lots of fun at the time.

Rapid-fire was a lot of fun when Uncle Sam foot the bill for the ammo.
Same attitude is exhibited by politicians who spend other peoples money.
