Looking at the load data for my .43 dies from Lee, there are lots of alternative powders listed.  I'm new to reloading and I'm using black powder now, however I intend to move to smokeless when components are easier to come by.
What reasons might there be to avoid those other smokeless powders than 4759 that are listed in the information that came with my Lee dies?

From the info John L. had shared about his work with Alliant 300mp, and the great results, looks like there will be a good replacement for the 4759.

2400 has always been my choice for cast loads in all alibers. 16 gr goes through most of the spectrum.
I dont understand 2400 has been ignored here.

Ignored? I'd say not quite, as it is my 'basic' load for bottleneck mil-surp rounds, but I find I can do better w/ other powdahs, like 4759, in the straightwall cases.

Now that I just wrote that and read it, maybe that's the reason, i.e., case style ... who knows?
