Blow tubing. No problem in my other rifles where the nose is a close fit. Most rifles are a little bigger bore dia at the breech end. Looking to fit the nose to the bore dia at the muzzle.

Thank you Dave.

I asked Biggi if she wanted to shoot the Shiloh. She kept saying no until I called her a chicken and a snooty Bavarian and some other stuff. She finally caved and shot the last two rounds of ammo. Today I asked if she like shooting the rifle. She said yes, very much and If I had brought more ammo she would have shot a lot more. This proves that women are the same all over the world, Dave.

A lead impression of my Shilohs throat indicates a .005 step the bullet must get past on its way into the bore. That explains the leading. Groove is .407. Inside neck is .412. No lead in to speak of, (throat) Rifling starts right at the case mouth and no taper of the lands. Twist is 16.5. Spent some time slugging the bore and feeling the bore.  Noticed a loose spot about eight inches ahead of the chamber. Seems to be little to no taper in the bore. May end up lapping and throating the barrel.

I also found a very tight throat on my Shiloh and I could not load the same bullets as I have for more modern type of throats on my other rifles.

Yes you can open up the throat on your barrel or you can use a bullet designed for your Shiloh. That is why I custom built a bullet for my rifle.

I don't know how any bullet can get past a .005 step in the throat without damage. Seems to me, the step must be taken out. The neck area in my chamber is oversize, the way I see it.  What bullet is designed for the Shiloh?

MY Shiloh Inline seater leaves a bell that centers the cartridge in my Shiloh's chamber neck.

The front bullet band is just far enough in front of the case to  center the bullet in the throat.

The perfect alignment of the cartridge in the chamber and throat does not cause any leading even though I am using bullets .002 larger than bore diameter.

Don't know what a Shiloh inline seater is. 

Do know that any bullet shot in my rifle, centered or not has to get past that .005 ledge as it enters the bore. Have the same situation with a Cody Ballard. Gonna set the barrel back and re-chamber one of these days.
