M1863 Type 1 Springfield Rifle Musket-opinions.

I took a run at trying to purchase this Type 1 Model 1863 Springfield Rifle Musket back in 2010. (In Canada)
I was unsuccessful....and I may be back at it again shortly.

What is this gun possibly worth in the U.S.?
I am asking because I am in Canada and our market is very different for CW stuff.

Thanks,
David

Looks nice 1000 plus at the Richmond Va CW Show. Dealers ask half again more.  All based on just right not touched and complete.

I would be surprised if a dealer asked less than $2000.00 for a rifle and cartridge box in that condition. The metal is supposed to be finished "bright" but I would make sure it hasn't been overly cleaned - lots of pitting would indicate lots of time under a buffing wheel.Good luck with your purchase.

Agree a dealer would ask 2000 or more. Around here lot of CW traded most face to face.  Figure the dealer will look for third profit at least.

McPheeters has the civil war cartridge box on his list without shoulder strap for 475.00
