Hi Shaw,

I tried to answer your pm but for some reason the forum wouldn't let me reply to you. The comb on a my mod 49 is 1 1/4" and the heel is 2 3/4". Hope this helps.

Bob, 

Thanks for the info.  I have a scrap stock I made so I could shoot the rifle while I was finishing the benchrest one.  I'll use it to cut and glue and alter to come up with the dimensions I need.  What you sent will give me a place to start.  It's a whole different ballgame than stocking a Mauser!
