I thought I would share this picture although I no longer own the rifle. I sold it about two years ago but I kept the scope. This rifle shot very small groups using a Lyman mold sized to .319. It is chambered for the 8.15x46 cartridge as most of them were. I like the cartridge much better than a 32-40 and brass was easy to make from 30-30 brass.

Really nice looking rifle especially the wood
. I just recently acquired one myself and the wood has really been over-varnished to the point where the checkering can hardly be felt and the wood grain looks really dark and muddy.
I have ordered Steve Earle's "Aydt & etc adapter rib" with scope blocks. It clamps to the top flat's open-sight rib so I will not have to drill and tap the barrel.
I'll need to do a real good cast of the chamber, throat, and beginning of the rifling; to get a real good mould match for the barrel.
I plan on using fixed ammo for offhand shooting. While others have had problems with the one-size-may-not-fit your specific - rifle stop-ring mould BA sells, I think one carefully designed for a specific rifle's dimensions should work fine enough for my level of offhand.

I own the rifle pictured. Biggi uses it when she travels to America. The bore measures .321. Rifle was built in 1927. Using Frank Zika stop ring bullets at about 190 gr. We don't use it as a bench rest rifle.
Has my picture engraved on the off side of the action.
DW, I have found that the most important detail when finding an accurate bullet that does not lead the barrel, is to use a bullet that fits the fired cases closely. If a bullet is a loose fit in the fired case it will lead the barrel. I use the same Zika .321 bullets in a rifle with .316 barrel. Shoots excellent and does not lead. Of course, your mileage may vary.
Joe.

Fabulous! I'm hoping to acquire a newly built Aydt action from Schilling around the March time frame. If anyone else wants one, I do not have the projected price, yet, but PM me and I'll let the company know.

I love the German guns, but have never acquired an Adyt, which is strange as they were one of the more plentiful war trophies brought back. I hope to own one in the future. I really like the fluted barrel. My most recent was a Steigle Martini from an internet auction. The first time I fired it, it made an odd sound & when I ejected the 8.15 case it didn't even resemble the 8.15. I went home and did a chamber cast, it had been chambered to 32 Win Special.

that was a not uncommon way some of these old jewels were turned into "shooters" that you could get factory ammo for. I don't know if a real good experienced single shot machinist gunsmith could drill out such a chamber or not and reline it and recut the correct chamber. But if I ran into one like that that was in good shape otherwise I'd certainly look into it. I'm not sure how well those old actions will handle modern jacketed 32 Win specials on a regular basis.

I used to look like that DW. Look more like the frumpy guy on my rifle now. Biggi say's I look like I just cut the cheese.
Sure love the engraving on your rifle, DW. When was it made? How bout posting some pictures of the rifle?
Joe.

eventually I need to set up the camera and tripod and get some decent ones of of a couple of the new-to-me-rifles and post them. time and circumstances have not been real conducive to getting it done.
with apologies to the OP for kind of hijacking his thread
