It really is a lovely gun and a pleasure to shoot. The only disappointment is that It was originally in 32-40, which I really wish it still was, but it has been re-bored to 38-55 ( exc bore)
Not that im going to sell it , Im a shooter, accumulator ,but I wonder how the re-boring effects the Collector desirability ?

Reboring is and was common practice.  No effect on price or desirability. Depending on who did the rebore, could add value. 38-55 is an excellent number.

Thanks Joe,  I know a bit about the Winchester Collector mentality, and it doesnt take much alteration to be worth nothing in their eyes,( a sling swivel hole not showing in the original Cody authentication letter ) .A re-boring would be a major turn off to them. I often welcome their attitude , as it has provided me with many excellent shooters that were quite reasonable $

Very nice. Don't be disappointed. The 38-55 is just as accurate as the 32-40 and a whole lot more useful (have bounced many a 170-200gr bullet off the rams and the occasional turkey). Just finished loading 150rds for my 40-65 Hepburn (original) and headed to the range for some numbers (sight settings & crony).

You will want one of these (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links) for all the answers. I'd would probably order one if he would communicate directly rather than through 3rd parties.

I tried to contact him while he was writing his book and offered to share information on my Match B Hepburn, and he was not interested in talking to me. Now that I know that he is charging Xtra $50 to ship to Canada ,
