11.7 grs of #9 with a 205 gr Mos spritzer is the sweet spot for my 32-20. Its a CPA with a #4 Douglas barrel 1-15 twist.

I suggest starting at 10.5 grs and work up at .1gr increments until you find your sweet spot. I was getting hard extraction at 11.8 grs.

I recently started working with 4100 so its a work in progress. I will say the results so far look promising.

I know you did't fire to many shots but how did the case hold up.
In regards to the 25 WCF, AA4100 is a real good choice of powder for that case. Most of the fellows out my way are using around 9.6 grains or a tad more.

What is a 25-20WCF "Schuetzen" chamber? What makes a chamber a Schuetzen?

SSShooter,

I'm not sure what it takes for Ken to call it a  "Schuetzen" chamber. My 25-20 WCF was chambered with a borrowed, well used, 25-20 lever gun reamer. Go figure?!

Schuetzen chambers are most of the time, considered to be a cartridge that has a straight taper w/o a neck. We'll only know when Ken tells us though.

I'm assuming your interpretation is that a "schuetzen chamber" is a neckless one designed specifically for breechseating that it could not hold a cased bullet due to its continuous taper from rim to case mouth.
Is this a modern design variation; or does it have historic precedents?

As Ken is asking about a 25-20WCF & 32-20, which are both BN cases, not sure the straight-case chamber would work.

The BRC .321 1-14.92 twist barrel is chambered 32-20 and throated for both Mos and Hoch 205gr tapered spitzer lead bullet. Unlike the 25cal. Hoch mould these two 32cal moulds are proven.

Hi,

It appears that your .32-20 chamber is similar to the .32-20 CPA.

My best load for the .32-20 CPA is 12.8 gr. of 4100 ignited with a Federal 205 GMM primer.  The bullet is a Mos 211 grain 5-groove "standard" design.  MV's (measured with a Chrony) vary from 1475 to 1500 fps depending on temperature and humidity.

The powder is held firmly in place with a single-sheet newspaper wad.

It takes about 3 firings for a new case to settle-in.  Performance is very good for the next 7 or 8 firings and then begins to drop off.  After 11 firings, I look for incipient case seperation.

This load is very hard on cases but that's a small price to pay for performance.
