I started this latest work sometime around the begining of October, last year as the pictures with the text on them is dated 11/7/12 and I shot the second target shown before going to the Modesto shoot last year.

Some of you may have seen it over on the CBA site. I posted it there to see if I could pick anyone's brain that had shot higher velocity PB bullets. I got no responce.

It all started because I LOVE spitzers and buy any that I find. I started this game with the 4 cal. ogive spitzers that Ron Long made when I started this game in '85 and won my very first match (about the 4 match that I ever shot) with it at the Brea club about 11/85. I've been sold on them ever since!

My first HV simi spitzer was the 323471 (215 gr, GC , shot BSed) of which I obtained a .43, 100 yard group @ 100 @ 2154 fps. This bullet was cast of Lyman #2 and had to be resized from .326 to .3215  But, it wasn't a reliable combo but, had lots of recoil. It would always shoot 3 or 4 shots in ~ .5 but, would throw fliers. That was in 1989.

Fast forward to about 2011........... I obtained the 323366 GC mold a year or two before 2012 and I took my 15 twist Clerke HW to the range just to shoot this bullet. This first target target is with the GC on, about a year later, I reamed the GC of and made a .323 base band. All groups are shot using IMR 4227. Ctr Rt group is .52 (16.5 gr), top group is 1.90 (17 gr). Ctr Lt is 1.84 (18 gr). bottom group is 1.45 (18.5 gr). The .52 group is what got me to take the GC off and try again.

While I don't consider a .78, 5 shot group competive in todays shooting, it does show promice and on this day, it was competive with the Paul Jones bullet, in this rifle, as shown. BTW, all groups shown where shot with 24/1, lead/tin, nothing harder. A different bullet lube and then a harder lead/tin alloy (15/1) is the next step. I then have a 20/1 with 1.5 antimony to try after that. Everything a step at a time. I'm hoping for at least 1800 fps. Then powders.
