Wow these are names I have never ran across since I started this game back in 2000, where were all these good folks hiding. It was as if a whole new group of new shooters just popped out of no where and that would be an outstanding thing to have happen.

John,
Bruce Peglow started Schuetzen at GRRC near Harris, MN about 3-4 years ago and has grown from just a few shooters to over 20 at this last match.  Scores are slowly improving as experience grows.  This is where I shot my first match last weekend.

Bob that gentleman truly deserves some serious recognition, what he has accomplished in that short amount of time is down right amazing. My hat goes off to him and his very rewarding efforts. Now to get the rest of the groups across the country to do the same.

I probably ought to jump in here with a few comments. To begin with I appreciate the kind remarks.

I got into competition shooting back in the early 80's, at that time my focus was shooting muzzleloaders at novelty matches and then competitively at NMLRA Territorial Matches here in the upper Midwest. I've been to Friendship a few times, even medaled on the odd target on occasion; much to my delight.

When the BPCR matches got going in earnest back in the early 90's I jumped into that with both feet. For me it was just another step in the evolution and development of firearms and my love for history and the firearms associated with it.

I have always been attracted to fine old target rifles. The appeal of the artistry and craftsmanship along with fine accuracy was an irresistible pull.

I started the GRRC Schuetzen discipline back in May 2008 at our club in Harris to see if there was any interest in sustaining such a discipline. In the early matches turn out was low, but there was clearly an interest there. I believe it is important to affiliate with a National Organization such as the ASSRA. We are a Charter Club now and a good many of us are dues paying members of the ASSRA.

The program has seen some changes. Early on most of the guys were shooting their buffalo guns, some still do, but many are now acquiring the correct equipment. There is a good representation of CPA's fine rifles, as well as some original Steven's 44.5's, some Highwalls, a Ballard, and a couple of those Old World German models. It is no small investment as we all know. The competition is getting tougher, this is a good thing, the guys are learning. No one has shot a 250 yet, but a couple of the fellows are getting real close.
